Fiberglass fly rods offer a wonderful alternative to typical graphite & composite materials. Their slower action translates to a smooth casting feel with great feedback, perfect for beginners and those who enjoy a more relaxed pace. However experts have also been migrating back to glass as its deep action provides a rewarding fighting experience. This forgiving nature allows for delicate presentations of lighter flies, ideal for spooky fish. When a fish strikes, the rod bends deeply, absorbing shocks and creating a thrilling fight, especially for smaller catches. Many anglers appreciate the classic feel and lighter weight of fiberglass, making the entire experience more enjoyable and reminiscent of a more traditional fly fishing style.
There was a period where glass fly rods went out of style or were seen as archaic, but new technology such as North Forks IconoGlass and Blue Halo's Retroflex have sparked a revival. Below are a couple glass rods that I have wrapped up in my store... And more on the way!
